Empretec

General

The EMPRETEC model of entrepreneurship development is a franchised UNCTAD Program which comprises key ingredients that prioritise the entrepreneurial development of the entrepreneurs and their enterprises. It is an attitudinal and behavioural mind set change approach to the entrepreneurship development. The EMPRETEC model will lead the entrepreneurs to affect their behaviours to enhance their personal entrepreneurial competencies that shall equip them for accelerated growth of their businesses. The development of the entrepreneurs and the growth of their enterprises do not result only from a training programme. The development and growth of the enterprises are enhanced by an enabling environment and a coordinated and programmed package of a mix of entrepreneurial and management skills training and a follow up delivery of customised business advisory services. The EMPRETEC model of entrepreneurship development programme offers these in one package of intervention
The EMPRETEC program is a UNCTAD’s franchised training program that was first installed in Argentina in 1988 following an extended study conducted by many researchers in the US and other parts of the world. It was extended to Africa in 1990 and has since been installed in Ghana, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria, Mauritius, Uganda, Guyana and Ethiopia and now in The Gambia.
The program puts together universal characteristics and competencies that successful entrepreneurs in the world exhibit in their businesses and daily lives. The program is a universally acclaimed training program which trains entrepreneurs to unleash their growth potential as well as help them sustainably grow their business through a training called Entrepreneurship Training Workshop and a comprehensive Business Development Services. These two very important components of the program make it a unique program.
